View-towers

Masts and towers, as structures of technical character, can, in some cases, reduce the value of landscape. One of the possibilities how to reduce this impact is combining the construction of a tower transceiver with a view tower. A view tower, if it is an architectonically favourable structure, in many cases fulfils the function of a landscape dominant and becomes (in a suitable location) a touristic attraction, too. Since in this case there is an increase in the costs of construction, operators try to offer such a location to others for sharing or to make the location a backbone point of the network, a so called BSC or SDH point.

Description of view-tower design

A multi-purpose tower with a viewpoint and reinforced concrete extension to accommodate the technology is designed as a console hollow concrete tube into the upper part of which a reinforced concrete mast Leonhard Moll is inserted. The top part of the hollow tube contains a view platform for view-tower visitors. The platform is covered by a sloping roof. Access to the view-tower is enabled by means of an external winding staircase provided with hand railing. The bottom section of the staircase is secured by a gate barrier against unauthorized access. The room for operators of the view-tower is situated in a roofed building at the foot of the tower.

All operators cable lines in the space of the staircase are led through the inside of the tube, and above the view platform roof they are led along a cable tray on the slender mast (transceiver tower and view-tower). This technical design enables a complete separation of the individual functions of the tower and, therefore, visitors of the view-tower cannot come into contact with cabling or any other part of the technology. Technological rooms are usually located in a brick building at the foot of the tower. Transmitting aerials are installed on steel structures on the slender mast by Leonhard Moll.

The colour design of the view-tower can be changed arbitrarily. A proven solution is a combination of a light colour of the stem and darker colour of the steel structures (green, brown). The upper part of the slender mast with aerials can, due to the height of the structure and according to requirements by ÚCL or VUSS, be provided with day obstacle marking consisting of a combination of red stripes RAL 3020 and white stripes RAL 9016 and with night obstacle lights.

Upon request, we are ready anytime to prepare a technical and price proposal to your requested structure and to provide you with possible further details.
